Shiny or alternate-colored Pokémon are effectively the same as their normal counterparts and generally show no differences aside from the one that matters the most: their appearance. Many species of Pokémon and organisms in general are never exact duplicates of one another and have some form of variation within their body structure, color patterns or something else that sets them apart from the rest.
